- Begin from the back (There is a procedure) - Begin the story wrong (Rel: b/w words and pics) - Reading repetition (Ten Apples up on Top): - Students read without reading (Gain confidence) - Related to reading procedure. - Are more confident when approaching the actual text. - Words: Repetition (Students notice how a word "looks") - "Wow! Same word!, Here too! Can we find others?" - " These two words are a team. Can we find more?" - Soon students can identify words (generally) and connect them to their meanings. - Recognizing letters/sounds & punctuation: - "Wow! The team word begin with different letters. Neat!" - "... and this letter is big! Why? Where are the big letters?" _ "This is an "s" its makes the sssss sound. Who can find the most?" _ "What if we change this letter? - Little Red Riding Hood Song and Story Lyrics, Tune - Set the scene, "What are key words in the story?" - Model song and sing (alternating lines)... - Model Story, until climax - Re read and complete Freedom Writers... |
